The Pattersons live next door to the Foutleys. They are a supportive middle class family.

Darren has a good relationship with his parents. Mr. Patterson is more rough and tough as opposed to his wife who is the opposite. Will Patterson is an athletic guy and plays football at Lucky High School. Darren would follow in his footsteps when played football there as well. Will is more popular among his peers than Darren.
Darren inherited his kind nature from his mother. Will inherited his tough behavior from his father. Mr. Patterson likes to give noogies much to the chagrin of the person he's giving it to. The family was in attendance to hear Ginger's poem in Hello Stranger. Mr. and Mrs. Patterson also attended Darren's graduation in Butterflies Are Free. Will was shown to be more stronger in The Wedding Frame.
