Piece of My Heart is the seventeenth episode of the first season which was broadcast on April 29, 2001.

Hoodsey sends Macie a secret admirer letter inviting her to the Jr. High dance disguised as a "mystery man" because he has a crush on her. Meanwhile, Darren thinks that Courtney invited him to the dance, but she really invited his older brother, Will. Also, Carl and Blake team up to retrieve a pig's heart so they can save a cow's life. Ginger tries to ask her crush Ian Richton to the dance but Miranda asks him before she had the chance to. Dodie says that she’s going with Chet Zipper but in the afternoon, Winston goes to Darren’s house to give the invitation to Will but gives it to Darren by mistake. Darren and Ginger would go together to the dance if they didn’t have dates. When Ginger tries to tell him that Courtney sent the invitation to his brother, Darren doesn’t believe her and he waits outside the school for Courtney. Meanwhile Courtney is waiting for Will but he doesn’t show up and gets her dress dirty in the process. Ginger walks next door to talk to Will and tells him that the invitation was for him not Darren and he says “His head may be metal but his heart isn’t“. They both drive to the school and tell Darren the truth and he’s heartbroken but goes with Ginger and end up having fun. Courtney fixes her dress and starts a trend by going alone. Macie and Hoodsey have a slow dance together before he leaves with Carl and Blake with the pig heart.
