New Girl in Town is the fourteenth episode (34th overall) of the second season which was broadcast on May 19, 2002.

The new girl in school, Laetitia Bowers, is not welcomed with open arms. Her gothic appearance and the fact that she carried around a fake skull only helped people circulate the rumor that the reason she and her father, who is a mortician, left town was because Mr. Bowers accidentally embalmed someone who was still alive. Ginger sees through these lies and promises Laetitia she can get the "in" crowd to come to her party. Meanwhile, Carl and Hoodsey are guilted into staying at Brandon's birthday party because they are the only ones there and Brandon's parents think he's popular.

Courtney: There's making an entrance, and then there's making an entrance. Miranda: And that was definitely not making an entrance.

Carl: In fact, Brandon could tear a page out of the Mr. Licorice playbook. Hoodsey: Think he has one?

Miranda: Do you think we'd be caught dead in a morgue? Courtney: (laughs) Miranda, you just made a joke.

Hoodsey: Wow, Carl. Makes you wonder what rsvp stands for.

Hoodsey: Smooth lie. Carl: Nice details.

Courtney: Hi, Ginger. The thing of it is, I went to thinking about what you said and I really hate it when I do that.

Math Teacher: Nice to have you aboard, Laetitia. And I hope you like the isosceles triangle. Three lines looking for trouble. (waves his hands)

Mipsy: My mother's cousin is the school secretary's podiatrist. Courtney: And everyone knows podiatrists have the best dirt.

  • Ginger mentions to Will that she crashed one of his parties. A callback to the episode "Fast Reputation".

  • Running gag: A "kick me" sign appearing on the backs of students, Principal Milty and the school statue.
  • Mipsy reveals that Laetitia's parents are divorced.
  • When Ginger, Dodie, Macie and Darren go ask Will for help, Andrea from The Right Stuff can be seen leaning on the hood of Will's car in the background.
