Blake Sophia Gripling is the younger brother of Courtney Gripling, and the frienemy of Carl and Hoodsey. He is generally spoiled, devious, but a gentleman, and he sometimes makes considerable efforts to befriend Carl, seemingly wishing to become best friends on a few occasions.

History[]

At first, Blake was an immature child who spied on his sister and her friend, Miranda. He also seemed to want to be friends with Carl, but disliked Hoodsey, often calling him "Woodsey". He is often seen attempting to become part of Carl and Hoodsey's plans, in addition to offering his criticism. He is closest to his butler Winston, and they seem to have a father-son relationship (unlike the relationship he has with his actual father Prescott Gripling). Blake was taught to behave properly and be obedient. Unlike his sister, he seems to be very smart, having skipped two grades.

Personality[]

Blake has a very stuck-up and entitled personality. He speaks with class in his voice. When he's around his fellow classmates, he acts very proper and tends to prove he's better than them because he's rich. When he's with his family, he treats his mother with respect. Even though, he Courtney have their battles he does care about her.

Appearance[]

Blake has short blond hair, similar to many people in his family. He is seven, but looks younger, and is shorter then most of the other students in his class due to him skipping two grades; therefore, making him two years younger than most of them. Since Blake was raised in a rich family, he often wears rather fancy clothes. Normally, he wears a uniform to school, but occasionally he wears something else. When he gets a chance to play with Carl, he is seen wearing a striped shirt and loose pants.

Relationships[]

Family[]

Claire Gripling: Blake's mother spoils both him and Courtney. Little else is known about Blake's and his mother's relationship. It's shown he might care about her when she needs to go to the hospital after her bad face-lift accident in Mommie Nearest.

Prescott Gripling: Like with his mother, Blake and his father have little screen-time interaction, but they are shown to love each other. In The Wedding Frame, Blake, along with the rest of his family, was shocked and surprised at Prescott Gripling being arrested.

Courtney Gripling: Like many siblings, he and Courtney argue a lot. Sometimes Blake spies on Courtney, but they occasionally show that they love each other.

Winston: Although they aren't related, Winston acts more like a father to Blake than his real father does. He seems to give him advice, as well as driving him places. At one point, he helps Blake with his plan to try to become friends with Carl. And in the episode, Blizzard Conditions, he told Winston that he was claustrophobic and he yelled at him with panic.

Teachers[]

Mrs. GordonHe doesn't interact with her much. She mainly sees Blake in a positive light as oppose to someone like Carl. It was shown in No Hope for Courtney, he got irritated when she asked him about Carl. This implies that he believes to some degree that Mrs. Gordon centers a lot of attention on Carl. In the same episode, he was shown to be sad after hearing the news that she had passed away.

Others[]

Carl FoutleyHe has a distain for Carl and vice versa. However, other times he has shown mixed feelings towards Carl as if he would like to be his friend. Blake was excited to spend time with Carl in ''Ginger the Juvey''. In ''Sleep on It'' Carl was the only person Blake wanted to invite to his sleepover and was very disappointed when Hoodsie came in his place after Carl got himself grounded.

Deep down he is intrigued by Carl just as Courtney is by Ginger. Despite this, he usually tries to ruin Carl's plans and get the upper hand against him. Carl took Blake's tonsils while he was getting a tonsillectomy in retaliation for Blake stealing the petrified eyeball from Carl. In Butterflies Are Free, he gave Blake his tonsils back. Blake's plans end up failing in the end but that doesn't stop him from trying again next time.

In The Wedding Frame, Blake is forced to ask the Foutley's to lower the price of their house, which they are selling, so the recently bankrupt Griplings can buy it. In a moment of desperation, he started crying and threw himself in Carl's arms.

Hoodsey Bishop: He and Hoodsey are also rivals. Although, he doesn't show much resentment towards Hoodsey, it's clear that they don't like each other. Blake doesn't think much of Hoodsey and sees him as Carl's sidekick.
