Andrew Starling is a member of the band at Lucky High School.
History []
He first appears in part 1 of Butterflies Are Free. He is in the band group with the instructor Mr. Minor. Miranda points out to Macie that Andrew is checking her out. Macie notices and she uses her inhaler. When Courtney is believed to be missing, Andrew goes inside Lucky High to get his reeds. As Andrew searches a locker, he hears Courtney trapped inside. He opens the locker and gets a good look at her. Courtney promises to improve his social standing if he doesn't tell anyone about her incident.
Andrew, however, misunderstood her words and closed the door. Courtney tells him she should've been more clear. Afterwards, Courtney is saved from the locker and she credits him for rescuing her. She changes the story of how it happened to not be embarrassed. A reporter asks if he is unnamed. He responds by telling her his name. At the graduation ceremony, he runs across the field in his band uniform. He runs into Courtney again. He asks Courtney to set him up with Macie. Courtney says consider it done and blows him a kiss.
In Kiss Today Goodbye, Macie told Ginger and Dodie that she intends to break up with Andrew. She thought about sending a letter, but she didn't want to put any induced strain on his bad eye. When Dodie calls Macie, she thinks Andrew has his eye on another. Dodie says she thought she had already broken up with him. Macie says she couldn't do it and is considering sending an emissary. The next day, Andrew is seen playing his saxophone and it distracts a dog walking with his owner. Macie goes over to Andrew and tries again after Chet wasn't up to the task. She and Andrew are later seen the hallway after Dodie lies to Simone again about a pet ferret. At the football game, the two of them are seen playing their instruments in the band. When Principal Erickson reads another letter, he says Macie is breaking up with Andrew due to band commitments. Andrew takes the news well and compliments how she is dedicated to her art.
In Battle of the Bands, he made a cameo appearance as Macie was handing out petitions to save the band program.

Personality[]
Andrew is a nice person and is kind to others. He mostly seen as an upstanding guy. He is a good kid.
Relationships []
Macie Lightfoot: He became her boyfriend after the events of Butterflies Are Free. Soon after, Macie decided to end their relationship to free up more time. She had a difficult time telling him. Principal Erickson read her note out loud in front of the student body in Kiss Today Goodbye.
Courtney Gripling: He rescued her from being trapped in a locker by cheerleaders. Courtney acknowledged him when speaking to the press. She promised to set him up with Macie at the graduation ceremony.
